Dr. Neena Malhotra

Dr. Neena Malhotra Joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1992.

Prior to her current assignment as Ambassador of India to Italy, San Marino and UN Organizations in Rome, Dr. Malhotra was serving as Additional Secretary (Indo-Pacific) covering Indo-Pacific, Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and Southern Divisions of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Dr. Malhotra has been Head of the Divisions of Passport, Visas (PV), E governance & Information Technology (EG&IT), South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and East & Southern Africa (E&SA).  In addition to bilateral relations with countries of Eastern and Southern Africa, she was in charge of relations with African Union (AU), African RECs, India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) matters including training programs and all-Africa policy matters.

At the headquarters of the MEA, Dr. Malhotra has served in various Divisions including the Americas, BSM, South East Asia & Pacific and External Publicity. As regards foreign assignments, she has served in Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO in Paris and CGI, New York.

Dr. Malhotra holds a Ph.D degree from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. Prior to joining the IFS, Dr. Malhotra was selected as a scientist (S1) on the basis of Agriculture Research Service (ARS) Examination conducted at all-India level.  She has studied French language from Institut Catholique and Sorbonne University of Paris and done short term certificate courses from International Institute of Human Rights, Strasbourg and The New School, New York.
