India Italy High Level Dialogue on Economic Relations

A virtual High Level Dialogue on Economic Relations has been held today at the presence of the representatives of the main Industry Confederations and top level CEOs from India and Italy. The objective of the meeting was to explore opportunities of cooperation in a series of promising industrial sectors. The Forum was organized by the AIICP (India-Italy Association for Cooperation and Partnership), Confindustria and the Confederation of Indian Industries in cooperation with the Embassy of India, Rome and the Italian Embassy in New Delhi.

2. The forum brought together, through simultaneous thematic tables, over 60 top level CEOs and representatives of the leading industries from both the countries in the sectors of Advanced manufacturing, Automotives, Energy transition, Infrastructure (with special focus on railways), Food Processing and IT.

3. The opening of the Plenary Session was graced by the reading out of messages received from H.E. Mr Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Railways of India and H.E. Mr Luigi di Maio, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy by Ambassador of India Dr. Neena Malhotra and Ambassador of Italy Mr. Vincenzo De Luca, respectively. Both the Ministers shared their greetings for the initiatives. Participants to the Plenary Session included Ms. Emma Marcegaglia and Mr. Sajjan Jindal, respectively Chairman and co-Chairman of AIICP (India-Italy Association for Cooperation and Partnership), Ms. Barbara Beltrame, Vice President for Internalization from Confindustria (Italian Federation of Industries) and Mr. Sanjiv Bajaj, Vice President, from CII (Confederation of Indian Industry).

4. At the end of the one-hour long discussions held in the six separate thematic sessions attended by the representatives of the Indian and Italian firms, the high level forum concluded with the concluding addresses by the Ambassador of Italy in India, H.E. Vincenzo De Luca and the Consul General of India, Dr. Binoy George who felicitated for the productive meeting and wished this platform could be used as a knowledge sharing mechanism between the two sides.
