DesignIndia - Dialogue between Indian and Italian designers

The webinar DesignIndia: Dialogue between Indian and Italian designers was held on 06.04.2021 as part of SRIJAN- the festival of India in Italy. The event was organized by Sakshi association in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Rome and University Orientale of Naples and Sapienza University of Rome. The objective of the webinar was to discuss the trend and possibility of cooperation in the field of fashion. The opening remarks was given by Ms Neeharika Singh, Deputy Chief of Mission.

  • The online seminar brought together creators, designers, e-commerce strategist and professors from eminent fashion schools of India and Italy. From India, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was represented by Dr Vandana Narang; from Italy, Sapienza University and IED were represented respectively by Prof Cinzia Capalbo, President of the fashion and costume degree course and by Prof Olivia Spinelli, creative coordinator and director. Designer and fashion director of Amazon India, Mr. Narendra Kumar and designer Troy Costa, from India interacted with Italian designers Celeste Pisenti and Antonino Cedro. The event was moderated by supermodel and fashion choreographer Marc Robinson and President of Sakshi association, Vas Shenoy.

  • The virtual dialogue dwelt extensively on India’s attractiveness as an emerging fashion industry and a huge market. The speakers highlighted several unexplored possibilities of cooperation in creativity, training, handicraft exchanges and interchange between the two countries. The virtual meeting lasted two hours and was attended by more than 600 participants from India and Italy.
